Wireless Mesh

What is Wireless Mesh?

Wireless Mesh is a set of devices that work in conjunction with another to cover more area without your devices seeing more than one wireless network. You can have multiple devices connected wirelessly to each other, or have cabling installed to connect all devices to a central point for faster wireless connections.

You are not limited to the number in sets, and can add as many as you need to cover all areas. Wireless Mesh is perfect for large and multistory homes, while parents can manage access of their kids through an easy phone application.

POE Switches

What does POE stand for and what do I need it for?

Power Over Ethernet” switches are used to power access points, desk phones and other network devices without the need to plug the devices into a power outlet. It especially uncomplicates the installations of access points in ceilings and reduces cables at your desk with your desk phone.

Unmanaged Switches

When do I need an unmanaged switch?

If you have no plans to segregate your local network with VLAN’s and only need to connect all your devices with ethernet, you don’t need more than an unmanaged switch. You generally need a skilled IT or Network engineer to setup managed.

Layer 2 & 3 Managed Switches

What is the difference between a Layer 2 and a Layer 3 switch?

The Layer 2 switch uses MAC addresses only. While you can setup VLAN’s on a managed Layer 2 switch, routing between VLAN’s will occur at the router or firewall. The Layer 3 switch reduces load on the router or firewall, by managing internal routing itself. This is generally set up for larger offices.

Firewalls

Why do I need a firewall? I have never had an issue before!

Cyber criminals will attack any company that has vulnerabilities. The less protection, the more likely you will be hacked. Legislation has also changed in South Africa… If your systems or network has been compromised and you did not implement the basic protection to protect your customer information, you can receive a heavy fine from regulators. Recently the Department of Justice was fined R5m for non-compliance. A cyber scam victim whose email was intercepted to change bank details of the lawyer firm, won her case against the lawyer firm (R5.5m) which could’ve been prevented, from as little as R2,000pm.

South Africa has the third largest amount of cyber victims in the world. Don’t become part of the statistics and let us help you implement basic Cyber Security.
