What is the difference between SATA & NVMe SSD’s?

SATA SSD’s also come in the same 2.5″ sizes than your laptop and SFF desktop hard drives and plug into the same port. The SATA SSD’s are approximately 3-4 times faster than normal SATA hard drives.

NVMe drives use PCIe ports and are about 4x times faster that the SATA SSD’s. When you want to upgrade your existing laptop, please ensure there is a M.2 slot available. If you are unsure, please contact us to assist.

Helpful Tip?

If you plan to upgrade your computer from normal HDD to SSD, purchase an USB external HDD case and install the removed HDD. This will provide you with an external hard drive at low cost.

What is Network Attached Storage (NAS)?

These are storage devices connected to your network and made accessible via the LAN. It is great for small offices or homes that need a central storage for anyone to access files or media. Some devices allow to be accessed from anywhere over the internet, but always ensure this is done is a safe and secure method. Hard drives are generally sold separately.

What is the difference between SDHC and SDXC?

SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) cards have a capacity up to 32GB and speeds of up to 120Mbps. SDXC (Secure Digital eXtended Capacity) cards have capacity of more than 32GB and are fast than the SDHC cards up to 200Mbps. 

While all devices that can take SDXC cards are compatible with SDHC cards, SDHC slots are not compatible with SDXC cards. Always check whether your device is compatible.
